Yesterday ended my quarter teaching the Carpe Deum Sunday School class at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church (the name of the class is a theological play on a common Latin phrase). I led ten sessions on the "Sermon on the Mount" in December, January, and February (although I had to record my final one for yesterday since I could not make due to last-minute travel). As we studied the famous sermon by Jesus to examine it with careful depth, I used Clarence Jordan's book Sermon on the Mount as the launching point for discussions. It was a great quarter as we challenged each other to think and live more fully what Jesus taught. The easy part was talking about it for a quarter; the hard part will be doing it for life.
